Mexican Mattress Sizes vs US, Canada and UK Sizes
By The SIMPLE team · Updated 2026-10-01
Mexican mattress names sound familiar, but they don't match US sizes. A Mexican Matrimonial is about a US Full, a Mexican Queen is a little narrower and 13 cm (5 in) shorter than a US Queen, and a Mexican King is wider and shorter than a US King. Whatever you buy in Mexico, go by the centimeters, not the name.
Mexican sizes vs US, Canada and UK
These are SIMPLE's four sizes, which follow the common Mexican names. Width × length. All four are 190 cm (74.8 in) long.
| Mexican size | SIMPLE (cm) | Inches | Closest US / Canada | Closest UK |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | 100 × 190 cm | 39.4 × 74.8 in | Twin, 38 × 75 in | Single, 3 ft |
| Matrimonial | 135 × 190 cm | 53.1 × 74.8 in | Full / Double, 53 × 75 in | Double, 4 ft 6 in |
| Queen | 150 × 190 cm | 59.1 × 74.8 in | Queen, 60 × 80 in | King, 5 ft |
| King | 200 × 190 cm | 78.7 × 74.8 in | King, 76 × 80 in | Super King, 6 ft |
Mexican size names aren't a fixed standard, so other brands may list slightly different measurements. Check the centimeters on any listing before you buy sheets, a frame or a mattress.
How each size compares
Individual vs US Twin
Very close. Our Individual is 3.5 cm (1.4 in) wider than a US Twin and 0.5 cm (0.2 in) shorter. Against a UK Single (3 ft, 90 cm wide) it's 10 cm (3.9 in) wider, same length. In Canada the Twin is also called a Single.
Matrimonial vs US Full and UK Double
The name says "marriage", the width says Full. Our Matrimonial is 0.4 cm (0.1 in) wider and 0.5 cm (0.2 in) shorter than a 53 in US Full. Some Canadian Fulls are 54 in wide; ours is 2.2 cm (0.9 in) narrower than those. It's exactly the size of a UK Double.
Queen vs US Queen
Same name, different bed. Our Queen is 2.4 cm (0.9 in) narrower and 13.2 cm (5.2 in) shorter than a US or Canadian Queen. If you're British: it's as wide as your King (5 ft) and 10 cm (3.9 in) shorter.
King vs US King
Our King is 7.0 cm (2.7 in) wider and 13.2 cm (5.2 in) shorter than a US King (193 × 203 cm). It's exactly two of our Individuals side by side. Next to a UK Super King (6 ft) it's 20 cm (7.9 in) wider and 10 cm (3.9 in) shorter.
Continental European mattresses are usually 200 cm long (for example 90, 140 or 160 cm wide), so they're 10 cm (3.9 in) longer than ours.
Bringing sheets or a bed frame from home
We haven't tested US or UK sheets on our mattresses, so we won't promise a fit. Here are the numbers to check against what you have:
- Depth: every SIMPLE mattress is 25 cm (9.8 in) tall. Your fitted sheet's pocket needs to cover that.
- US Queen sheets on our Queen: the fitted sheet is made for a mattress 13.2 cm (5.2 in) longer and 2.4 cm (0.9 in) wider, so expect slack at the foot.
- US King sheets on our King: made for a mattress 7.0 cm (2.7 in) narrower and 13.2 cm (5.2 in) longer. It may be tight across and loose at the foot.
- US Twin and Full sheets: within a few centimeters of our Individual and Matrimonial.
- UK Double bedding: made for exactly our Matrimonial size.
Bed frames matter more than sheets. A US Queen or King frame is built for a mattress 13.2 cm (5.2 in) longer than ours, so you'll have a gap at the foot. A US King frame is also 7 cm narrower than our King, so the mattress would overhang about 3.5 cm on each side. A memory-foam mattress needs a flat, firm, ventilated base; our Spanish guide on which base a memory-foam mattress needs covers slat spacing and box springs.
If you're tall
Every SIMPLE mattress is 190 cm (74.8 in) long, just under 6 ft 3 in. That's 0.5 cm (0.2 in) shorter than a US Twin or Full (75 in). A US Queen or King is 80 in (203.2 cm) long.
We don't make a longer size. If your feet reach the end of a US Queen or King today, they'll hang off ours. We'd rather tell you now than after you unbox it.
Buying a SIMPLE mattress
SIMPLE makes one memory-foam mattress, 25 cm tall with medium firmness (7/10), made in Mexico. It arrives rolled and compressed in a box, so it fits through narrow stairs and elevators.

What size is a matrimonial bed? Is it a Full?
Nearly. Matrimonial is the Mexican name for a double. Ours is 135 × 190 cm (53.1 × 74.8 in): about a US or Canadian Full (53 × 75 in) and exactly a UK Double.
Is a Mexican Queen the same as a US Queen?
No. Our Queen is 150 × 190 cm (59.1 × 74.8 in). A US Queen is 60 × 80 in (152.4 × 203.2 cm), so ours is 2.4 cm (0.9 in) narrower and 13.2 cm (5.2 in) shorter.
What size is a king-size bed in Mexico?
Usually 200 × 190 cm (78.7 × 74.8 in); ours is 200 × 190 cm. Next to a US King (76 × 80 in, 193 × 203 cm) it's 7 cm (2.7 in) wider and 13.2 cm (5.2 in) shorter. Not every Mexican listing agrees, so check the centimeters.
Is a Mexican Individual the same as a US Twin?
Close. Our Individual is 100 × 190 cm (39.4 × 74.8 in). A US Twin is 38 × 75 in (96.5 × 190.5 cm), so ours is 3.5 cm (1.4 in) wider and 0.5 cm (0.2 in) shorter.
I'm British. Is your King my King?
No. A UK King (5 ft, 150 × 200 cm) is the width of our Queen and 10 cm longer. Our King is 20 cm wider than a UK Super King and 10 cm shorter. Your 4 ft 6 in Double is exactly our Matrimonial.
